Welcome to the wonderful world of me
A bit on design, being a dad & learning to play piano
So first an introduction; I’m a dad to three, husband to one, a company owner, a Creative Partner, an aspiring pianist, and a bit of a geek. I love watching and reading bad sci-fi, eating good food, and generally reading stuff and nonsense online.
My kids are amazing! I know you’re thinking everyone says that about their own, but really it’s true. It’s incredible watching them grow and learn and play with everything. I’m still learning how to be their dad after 4 years of trying, and to be honest I always will be but they’re fine with that, I think. I’m raising iKids though; they’re as excited by technology as I am…
Work for me is to be the Creative Partner at my own agency Fantastic Thinking, something I started with two others 8 years ago. It used to be an excuse to play football in the sun; it’s now incredibly exciting, challenging and still an inspiration (most of the time). I’m the one who makes sure we create amazing looking experiences for our clients as well as testing, researching and sharing insights and innovative thoughts and techniques to the rest of the company.
Ha! I say an aspiring pianist but what I mean to say is it’s something I’ve wanted to do since I was little. My mum, seeing this musical ambition, was able to get me into violin lessons (the violin being easier to get into the top floor of the flats where we lived) which lasted until the day I had to choose between football practice or violin lessons on Monday lunchtimes. So I’ve been learning since July ’10, initially just for fun and to satisfy my piano ‘ambitions’, but since Becky (my wife!) promised to buy me a grand piano on the day I pass my @ABRSM Grade 8 exams I’ve taken to the exam route.
I’ll be sharing posts and links to items about all these things; some will be funny, some will be odd and some will just be nonsense…
Hi! I’m Richard Hiscutt, Founder & Creative Partner of Fantastic Thinking & co-creator of two girls and a boy…
Here you’ll find thoughts around being a geek dad, some inspirational design & creativity work from around the world as well as a few frustrated posts about finally getting around to learning to play the piano…
